Car Rentals' turnover approaches R$ 3 billion
ABLA concluded their annual statistical survey on Car Rental figures in 2005.The Car Rental Industry maintained its growth trend, with a leap of 8.3% in turnover, compared to year 2004. For the first time in the history of the sector in Brazil, we have come close to a R$ 3 billion record turnover. At the same time, the number of car Rental Companies remained stable, which makes us conclude that in Brazil it is necessary to attain a high competitive edge to stay in business. As the total turnover expanded and the number of companies did not increase, it is clear that business people who operate within the Car Rental sector are the ones who have improved their managerial strategies and reached high technical and quality standards, comparable to those of international companies.
The sector bought 11.05% of all cars sold in the year
The total Car Rental fleet increased from 203,650 automobiles to 223,811 between 2004 and 2005.This evolution ratified the importance of the Car Rental business for the Automobile Industry. In 2004 companies within the sector acquired the equivalent of 11.3% of all cars sold in the year, in 2005 the Car Rental sector acquired 11.05% of the total number cars sold by car makers. The average useful life of the fleet remained around 15 months. In the Car Rental sector, customers increasingly demand new cars to be available for rent.
